about
I am a New Zealand author living in Tāmaki Makaurau who writes short and long fiction, and occasional poems.
My story, ‘Pig Hunting’ won the 2023 Sargeson Prize, and was published on ReadingRoom. Most recently, I was shortlisted for the Commonwealth Short Story Prize for my story, ‘So Clean‘.
My short fiction has also been published in a variety of journals including Landfall, Geometry and Takahē, as well as the anthology Ko Aotearoa Tātou | We Are New Zealand. My poetry has been published by the New Zealand Poetry Society and Poetry New Zealand.
In June 2022 I spent a week on the Otago Peninsula as the Caselberg Trust Elizabeth-Brooke Carr Emerging Writers Resident. The residency gave me the time to write a new short story and complete research for my novel, currently out on submission, Tomahawk Beach. In 2023 I completed a Master of Creative Writing at the University of Auckland and I’m grateful to the Crystal Arts Trust Scholarship for supporting my studies.
I have also been generously supported by the NZSA with a mentorship in 2019 and a CompleteMS Assessment in 2021, and was shortlisted for The Micheal Gifkins Prize for an Unpublished novel (2022).
I’ve taken a little break from social media, but you can join my little letter to hear more about what I am reading and writing. I’d love to hear from you.
