about the author

I am a New Zealand author living in Tāmaki Makaurau who writes short and long fiction, and occasional poems.

My short fiction has been published in a variety of journals including Landfall, Geometry, Takahē and The Three Lamps, as well as the anthology Ko Aotearoa Tātou | We Are New Zealand. My poetry has been published by the New Zealand Poetry Society and Poetry New Zealand.

I have been generously supported by the NZSA with a mentorship in 2019 and a CompleteMS Assessment in 2021, and was shortlisted for The Micheal Gifkins Prize for an Unpublished novel (2022).

In June 2022 I spent a week on the Otago Peninsula as the Caselberg Trust Elizabeth-Brooke Carr Emerging Writers Resident. The residency gave me the time to write a new short story and complete research for my my current work in progress, Tomahawk Beach. In 2023 I completed a Master of Creative Writing at the University of Auckland and I’m grateful to the Crystal Arts Trust Scholarship for supporting my studies.

Most recently, my story, ‘Pig Hunting’ won the 2023 Sargeson Prize, and was published on ReadingRoom.

I’ve taken a little break from social media, but you can join my little letter to hear more about what I am reading and writing. I’d love to hear from you.
